Truly A King
Posted by Enchasmic - 7th day of Hunting, Y10, 6:10:31pm NST
Hey NLers,

As you have probably seen, Mark (whose display name is currently "King") has been on trial for newsposting for almost a month and a half. We had a couple delays, but those don't really matter right now. What does matter, is that we need to introduce Neolodge's Newsposter right now. And obviously from what you've already read, the newest Newposter on the Neolodge Team is...

MARK!

He's been working very hard during his trial, and has been very patient. He's done a great job and truly deserves this. I hope that you all post congratulating him, and Mark, make sure you don't slack. While Georgie has a whip, I have a cattle prod. smile.gif Haha. You'll do a great job, I know you will.

Everybody give a hand for Mark!

Oooh, and one more thing, you gets a present Mark. It's called, Sombrero. I didn't get one when I got hired, so I'm posting two, one for each of us. alucard.gif alucard.gif

Native Island Guilt Giveaway
Posted by Marcia - 2nd day of Eating, Y10, 3:27:53pm NST
Welcome to the Native Island Guilt Giveaway!

Ok, so yesterday was April Fool's and every year, NI does something wacky and weird and stuff. But we forgot to yesterday. Yeah.. sorry guys! I blame them ebil monkies! So, to make it up to you guys, we're holding a supermegahyperawesome giveaway!

But before you take a look at the prizes, I think you will be amazed at how fabulous they are. No, this is no joke. We felt bad so we pooled every last NP we could find to get you these prizes so just be grateful already. And yes, some people in NI are that rich. *coughMatchucough* And some of us even went begging at the Money Tree. I heard that D-Train spent 5 hours yesterday stalking that tree. O.O

Oh, and then Brian (Koala) and Kai (who we all know is uber rich) gave us some sweet items for a Subeta giveaway. So this is both a Neopets and Subeta giveaway! Isn't that great?

And I took like an hour formatting this post, so you'd better appreciate my hard work. Do you know how hard it is to organize a post? You have to make the sizes just right and the fonts just right and I have OCD so everything looks wrong to me and I have to change everything again and yeah. Yes, I know, I'm rambling on. I just had ice cream so I'm hyper. WHEE! *spins around in a rolly chair*

Just post your Neopets and/or Subeta name to enter. You need at least 1 post to be eligible for this giveaway. Winners will be chosen by random.org

Enough talk. Here are the Neopets prizes:

First Place:

Supreme Deluxe Faerie Queen Doll
Worth: 5,000,000 NP
Yeah, it's better than a regular Faerie Queen Doll. Hah! And what?

Second Place:

Rainbow Swirly Thing
Worth: 3,653,000 NP
Just look at those colors! The red mixed with the orange mixed with the yellow mixed with the green mixed with the blue mixed with the purple is just simply amazing!

Third Place:

Everlasting Apple
Worth: 990,000 NP
Go ahead, take a bite. And another and another and another... And it won't run out.

And here are the Subeta prizes:

First Place:

Aemis
Worth: 12,000,000 sP
Holy cow! A legendary weapon. =O Dude, this does like killer damage at the battle dome. And it's wearable too.

Second Place:

Crown of Ultimate Evil
Worth: 8,000,000 sP
FEAR MEH! *evil laugh* One day, I shall take over the world! *starts to map out a plan for world domination*

Third Place:

Reborn Potion
Worth: 4,000,000 sP
Use it on your pet and transform him/her into thus super firey pet with flames coming out and stuff. It's cool.

And here are the technical boring giveaway details that Doug insisted I put blah blah blah. Don't bother reading it. It's just a history of NI that I had to put in to advertise. I'll even make it a super small font so you don't have to go through the trouble of reading it.

There's no entry fee or anything of the sort - all you have to do is have more than 1 post and reply to this topic to be entered for the drawing. Got 1 or more posts? Great! Reply to this topic and you'll automatically be entered. The southern and western states were pressing Jackson for swift action regarding the removal of the Native Americans from Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi. Because Jackson resided in the South and West, he carried a biased attitude favoring the South and West. Therefore, he was more inclined to remove the Native American tribes westward to comply with the wishes of the South and West. Gravimetric analysis is the “quantitative determination of a substance by precipitation followed by isolation and weighing of the precipitate” (Buckley, 1999). In this investigation, gravimetric analysis was employed to calculate the percent of chloride ions present in solid silver chloride resulting from the reaction between silver nitrate and sodium chloride. Silver nitrate is an irritant compound (AgNO3) that in contact with organic matter turns black and is used as a chemical reagent, in photography, and in medicine especially as an antiseptic and caustic (Merriam Webster Online Dictionary). Sodium chloride is an ionic crystalline chemical compound consisting of equal numbers of sodium and chlorine atoms (Merriam Webster Online Dictionary). Don't have 1 post? Keep posting (no spam), and you'll soon be able to enter. Why only one post? Because we felt bad for the people with less than 75 posts so we lowered the requirement but it's just for this giveaway so take advantage of it and enter already. In order to meet the new budget deficit requirements, I had to institute an across the board cut. The cuts were made simply because they were necessary in order to fall below a $150 billion deficit. The categories that received a maximum cut of 20% were general government, administration of justice, veterans benefits and services, community and regional development, and transportation.Once you post, this giveaway will change into a takeaway. NI started way back when when the forums started and I don't quite remember the details because I wasn't there. The study began with research. Direct quotations were cited from the novels themselves and literary criticism was obtained through Thomson Gale’s PowerSearch™ feature. An outline was made to categorize the supports and overall, organize the paper. A problem encountered during this process was gathering relevant information to contrast the two cases. We eat bananas and coconuts. We currently have over X amount of members in Native Island so this giveaway is a promotional giveaway really. Remember to post a lot but make your posts nonspam or Nadia will get mad and chase after you. Studies suggest that by the time teens are middle aged, the rate of heart disease could be raised by 16% because of being overweight. Danish researchers acknowledged a connection between even younger children with excess fat and heart disease. Danish study watched what happened to 277,000 children while they grew up, and 14,500 of them had heart disease. If you do not have 1 post and you enter, your entry is null and void. We sleep on seaweed beds and bathe in seawater. It's healthy for you. The election of 1800 marked the peaceful transition of power between political factions, more specifically, from the Federalists, under the presidency of John Adams to the Democratic-Republicans, under the new president, Thomas Jefferson, and marked the beginning of the Federalist decline in politics. This milestone in American history is commonly known as the “Revolution of 1800” and is characterized by Jefferson’s approach on economics and foreign affairs. The weather in the Antarctic region is very harsh and cold. Blizzards are a typical Antarctic phenomenon. Because of little precipitation, most of the snow is picked up by the wind in a blizzard. Only coastal areas receive heavy precipitation. The high elevation results in colder temperatures in the Antarctic region then the arctic. The lowest temperature scientists have recorded was -129 degrees Fahrenheit at Vostok Station in Antarctica. The conjecture made was that the ratio of area A to B is n:1 and applies directly to all positive integers, inversely to all positive rational numbers excluding integers, and does not apply to negative rational numbers. This giveaway is funded by Native Island, which is this super secret place that only people with 1,000+ posts are eligible to accepted into. You see, the people on the island have to vote to see if you can get in or not so be nice and be friendly and make friends with everyone and don't get on people's nerves and yeah use common sense. Yes, this primarily is an advertisement for NI. Get over it.

Make Me A Supergraphicartist
Posted by Gilligan - 27th day of Running, Y10, 9:59:38pm NST
So, you want to be a Super Graphic Artist? Think you have what it takes? Are you fierce?! Are you sexy?! Are you edgy?! Are you at least 6'2"?!

If you apply to all of the above, then congratulations! But you don't meet the standards of being a graphic artist. Oh no, my deary.

I'm searching across the globe for the top graphic artists in the world! Out of tens of applicants, I've decided to fish around here for any bit of talent. You need to have the skills necessary to survive the harsh world of art! (insert gasp)

If you say "yes" to at least two (preferably all smile.gif) of the below, then why not PM me a mini portfolio? Details as to what that entails shall follow...

  • Do I have access to a graphics program, such as Adobe Photoshop, and have a thorough knowledge of how to use it?
  • Do I have the time to make this commitment of being a graphic artist?
  • Do I eat, breathe, and drink my art? If so, seek medical attention. Then PM Kev.
  • Do I have skills or experience in any of the following? Digital painting/drawing, graphics making, photo editing
  • Do I write in an articulate manner so that any tutorials I create won't have to be rewritten by content staff or, more importantly, Kev? If you knew what articulate meant, you probably would answer "yes".
  • Do I find making art fun and exciting? Is it a learning process?

Want to take a chance and see if you got what it takes? I would need a quick, small portfolio of your previous works. Just include in your PM your desire to become a graphic artist at NeoLodge, and why you want this position. Title your PM "GA Application Portfolio". Here's what I want in your PM:

  • 5-6 works that you think are diverse enough to express your art style.
  • 3-4 works that you are most proud of. They may be a repeat of the other 5, but remember, the more works you send, the better I can judge you as a potential graphic artist!

These works should preferably be of digital media (created by digital imaging software such as Photoshop, Corel Painter, Illustrator, Gimp, etc. MS Paint works will not be accepted at this time, sorry). Please provide URL links to the works in your PM. How? Upload your works to your computer and go to an image hosting site, such as photobucket.com or imageshack.us.

If you can find the grammar error I made in this topic, you'll be given extra weight in your application. Well not really, but it'd give you something to do I guess.
