Ahhh, so you've finally decide to join the wonderous world of Neopia, the world in which Neopets live. Congratulations on the birth of your neopet. Neopets are virtual animals that require a lot of attention. They ultimately become addictive. But before you get addicted take a few moments to learn about the basics of Neopets.

First things first; there are a few rules that you really need to know.
- DO NOT give anyone your password. This is important because people could go into your account and steal your items and your Neopoints.
- Beware of scams. There are many scams people use on Neopets to try to gain an advantage over other players. On of the more popular scams is fake log-in pages. If the web address does not read http://www.neopets.com/loginpage.phtml then it is not real and you should report where you found it. Reports can be sent to the Neopet team here.
- TNT (The Neopets Team) will never, EVER ask for your AIM, MSN, Yahoo, or other instant messenger screen-name. While some may feel that it would be cool to talk to Poptart about the lastest plot, that's something TNT would never do. You can find these tips and more in our guide.
- Neomails are sort of like emails. It's a way for someone to contact you on the Neopet site. You can access your Neomail here.
- Some players get a kick out of threats. If anyone Neomails and threatens to report you, contact TNT and report that person. You can get in touch with TNT here.
- Create a safety deposit box. Only a limited number of items can be kept in your inventory and they can be lost through various Random Events. Items in your safety deposit box can only be removed by you. You can create a safety deposit box by going here.
- Create a bank account. Your Neopoints are the currency used in all of Neopia. Keeping them safe in the bank is a good idea.
- Collect your interest daily. Neopoints deposited in the bank earn interest (more Neopoints!). There are increasingly higher levels of interest for larger accounts.
Junior Saver - 4.5% Interest Rate
Neopian Student - 5.5% Interest Rate
Bronze Saver - 6% Interest Rate
Silver Saver - 6.5% Interest Rate
Super Gold Plus - 7% Interest Rate
Platinum Extra - 7.5% Interest Rate
Double Platinum - 8% Interest Rate
Triple Platinum - 8.5% Interest Rate
Diamond Deposit - 9% Interest Rate
Diamond Deposit Plus - 9.5% Interest Rate
Diamond Deposit Gold - 10% Interest Rate
Millionaire Platinum - 10.5% Interest Rate
Millionaire Double Platinum - 11% Interest Rate
Millionaire Mega-Platinum - 11.5% Interest Rate
Neopian Mega-Riches - 12 % Interest Rate
Ultimate Riches! - 12.5% Interest Rate
Now that you have all the basics down, let's go a little further in depth.
Do your dailies! Dailies are places you can visit every day to receive free items and other good things
Daily Links are truly important. Why, you ask? Well, they are a fast way of gaining items, hit points, defense points, movement points and the all important NEOPOINTS!
A fast way to complete your dailies without missing anything is by using our list. But before you rush off, let's take a look at what some of them are.
- Collect your bank interest everyday. The more Neopoints you put in, the higher the interest. Try to put at least 60% of your on-hand Neopoints in the bank. This will not only build up your bank account, but it will kind of help avoid those random events where the Bug Brothers, ghosts or other things steal them from you; you'll grow to hate that. More on random events later.
- Collect is your monthly freebies. You get 2000 NPs and free food, just for clicking! You can only go there once a month...bummer.
- What is the Healing Springs? No, it's not a spa resort where all the Neopians go to relax their sore muscles after a long, hard days work of... sitting at the computer, playing games. It's a place that will save you anytime you find your pet sick. Neopets are like humans. When sick, you have to cure them. Most cures cost a lot. This is where the healing springs come in handy. Some foods also make your pet sick. So watch out for those. When you visit your quick ref scroll to the bottom to see if your pet is sick. Also look at the heath. You can visit the healing springs every 30 minutes. This is why you shouldn't pay for cures.
- The Tiki Tombola (he is so hot!..). When you go here, you can win Neopoints, food, newspapers and other goodies. You may not win anything at all!
- The Wheel of Excitement is located in Faerieland, one of the cutest places ever. Spinning the wheel costs 150 NP but you can win anything from 20 neopoints to 10,000. If you land on the Pant Devil (he's so evil) he may even steal a random item out of your inventory. For some odd reason he's attracted to items that cost a lot. I would suggest putting your items in your Safety Deposit Box befor visiting.
- FREE FOOD in the form of a Giant Jelly is always nice, but DO NOT eat the Poisonous Jelly. It will make your pet sick and then you'll find yourself back at the Healing Springs!
- And more FREE FOOD! Don't ya just love free food. This time it is a Giant Omelette. You can visit here once a day. When you get your omelette, make sure you look at the name of it before actually feeding it to your pet. The rotten omelette will make him sick... DO NOT EAT IT. It looks like the cheese omelette, which is really tasty.
- The Money Tree is the place where generous Neopians donate their extra items for others to have. You can go here and click to get free things. You will not always get something, but it's worth a try. Now, do not be alarmed if you get something that is just junk, lots of the donations are. However there are plenty of good items and NP waiting to be grabbed. For more information about the Money Tree and other giveaways, be sure to read our guide .
- Hate counting? Love Neopoints? The game Potato Counter will let you play and win 3 times daily. However, there is a secret way to earn the points without having to do the counting. If you're like me you love Neopoints, but don't want to spend all day counting potatoes. (Sorry, but I never did like math. It was always taking away...get it taking away? Subtraction? Ok, I should really stick to my day job) This will take you straight to the award page without the counting of the potatoes. Shhh... don't tell anyone. This is just between you and I! Not to mention, you win 75 NPs.

There are different types of creatures you will meet while passing through Neopia. Some of them good, and others are evil and many of them are faeries. To read about the Faeries of Neopia check our guide. Many of the faeries will give you a quest.
The Rainbow Fountain Faeire is one of the coolest. She actually changes the color of your pet. (How Hot is that?) Her quests are quite rare, yet quite rewarding. She asks for random things, sometimes they can cost as little as 100 NPs and sometimes the price is sky high. No matter the cost, never turn down a quest for the Fountain Faerie!
There is no time limit on the random faeire quests but on quests the you request there are time limits. The Snow Faerie offers about 1 hour, some of the others offer 2. If you plan on doing these quests make sure you look at the time limit!
- Remember that the Water Faerie and the Rainbow Faerie look a like although in my eyes, the Rainbow Fountain Faerie is much cuter! The Water Faerie will bless your pet with a higher defense point and it will say the name of the pet it is blessing, whereas the Rainbow Faerie will not list the pet's name, she will tell you to go to the Rainbow Fountain.
- The Water Faerie asks for books, whereas the Rainbow Faerie will ask for any random item with the rarity of 94 to about 96.
- The Fountain Faerie can paint your pet any color except MSP Poogle and any Royal or Robot Pet. She can not change the gender of your pet either and you get to decide what you want your pet to be painted.
Want to get rich? No, not like a couple of thousand Neopoints rich. I mean sure, everyone wants to have more Neopoints than Adam (Secretly he's an evil cyborg from a far away planet). Well, everyone knows that the quickest way to make Neopoints is to...you've guessed it: PLAY GAMES !! Whether you're like me and love to play Snowmuncher, or love to play Hasee Bounce, playing games is the quickest legal way to gain NPs.I love those type of games where you all you have to do is...CLICK (Hmm... isn't that the name of a movie?). How's about 20k in about 25 minutes? Yes, you read that correctly: All you have to do is click. Many pet pages list those hidden Neopoint links. One we really like is by My_First_Little_Pony.
Sponsor games won't get you rich, but they will certainly help you out. I mean, if they did I would never and The Rock means...Never, play some of the other games, but that's not how it works. So, playing the other games are a must. I tend to play those games that give you a NP Ratio of 100 NP per 100 pts scored or better. Some games offer you an avatar if you get a high score. This, to me, is double good!
