Creating a Border in PSP

Adding a border to any graphic you make is a wonderful finishing touch for an image. One very popular border is the simple one pixel border, or three pixel border. They both require the same steps, and are very simple.

To demonstrate this tutorial, this will be the image used. Copy it by using Ctrl+C and paste it into PSP using Ctrl+V.

Now, most people add the border as a last step, so let's assume I have just added some text to my image and some effects to the image. As the last step, click on Image in your toolbar and select Add Border.

To add a one pixel border, match your setting to those shown.

You can now choose any color you like for your image, by click on the Color box. I am going to choose black. Finally, hit OK and and you end up with a very nice one pixel border.

You can also try the 3 pixel border by repeating the tutorial 3 times, usually having black, then another color, then black again.
Your final image will look like the following with a three pixel border:

Please Note: Adding the border will flatten all the layers into one layer. You will not be able to work with the different layers, which is why it is wise to create the border last.
