In Chapter 10, it seems that the Haunted Woods are prepared to fight. Not only are the trees stronger than the gravestones were, they also have a much bigger arsenal of weapons.

Just like last time, visit the Faerieland Healing Springs to top off your pet's HP and head to the Battledome. The stones can no longer be fought, however three new, more difficult opponents are ready to fight.

 Black Elm
 Blathering Breech
 Savage Sycamore

The Black Elm is the easiest to beat with a starting HP of only 15. The Blathering Beech is a bit more difficult with a beginning HP of 30. The Savage Sycamore is the most difficult with an initial HP of 50. While the Trees are obviously more difficult to beat than the Stones, there are a few things that can make it easier.

Weapons are extremely important. Having decent weapons and using fierce attack should be enough to fight. These items are relatively inexpensive and will work well in doubles or one of each. Using doubles is of course more powerful. Healing scrolls can also be helpful. If your pet does not have a lot of HP, these weapons will probably not be enough for the Blathering Beech or the Savage Sycamore. More powerful weapons will be needed in that situation.

The Purple Sticky Hand is an excellent item to equip to your pet. When used against the Savage Sycamore, even lower HP pets can win. Using the Hand in the first assault will steal a Blue Scorchstone. Use the scorchstone along with the Scarab Ring in the next round and the ability Heal to defeat the giant.

If a tree beats your pet in a fight, and it's too soon to visit the Healing Springs again, there's an easy, inexpensive way to completely restore HP. Essence of Everlasting Apple ranges from 150-300 NP on the shop wizard. It can also be bought at the Healing Springs, but for a much larger price of 2500 NP. This potion is especially good for pets with a very large amount of HP.

A helpful ability to have is the burrow ability. It's a very good source of defense, so it's especially useful to pets with low defense. Obtain the burrow ability by using 4 Bottled Earth Faerie on the same pet. The pet must be at level 10, or it will not work. Don't forget to activate the ability by clicking on it. For more abilities check out our Bottled Faerie guide.

The Battledome is extremely laggy with increased traffic. Many times the battle will time out in the middle of a battle, or sometimes even a turn. This can be frustrating, but just think of the prizes! It is much faster to click the Back button on your browser to continue challenging opponents than it is to click Continue and go through the trophy or defeated page.

The more you beat one of these opponents, the stronger they become. Therefore better weapons will be needed in order to continue beating them. There's a possibility that plot points will be awarded for these battles, so it's probably worth investing some Neopoints into a few more powerful weapons. The NeoLodge guide The Best Weapons for Your Money offers suggestions for  weapons in a variety of price ranges.
