In this game you play a hungry Spyder. The poor little unsuspecting Vernax are just merrily trotting around, minding their own business, and it's your job to capture them and gobble them up!

Controls

You play a very hungry spyder who is spinning webs in order to capture the Vernax. Use the left button on the mouse to spin a web, trapping the Vernax in the smallest area possible.

When ready to make the web, click the left mouse button and drag your mouse in the direction you want the Spyder to travel, while avoiding the Vernax. If a Vernax hits the web while you are trying to construct it, you will lose a life.

Scoring

As you get familiar with the game, you will come to see that there are ways in which you can gain a higher score. Of course, you should always try to trap the Vernax in a small space, as stated above. The smaller the space is, the more points you get. You can also increase your score by trapping two or more Vernex in a web, at the same time. Depending on the size of the space, the points you receive from that will be multiplied by the number of Vernex in the web.

Another way to gain more points is by constructing a web through the little black spyder with the red eyes, called Spyder Bite..

The amount of points you get whenever you collect a Spyder bite is determined by the amount of space between the beginning of the strand and the location of the Spyder bite. The maximum number of points that you can earn is twenty nine since Spyder bites don't appear on the boundary lines and the square is only thirty web units across.

The Web Bonus is the third way in which you can receive a bonus. The score is based on how many strands you use the entire level and is awarded when completing a level.

Levels

As you proceed through the game, you will notice that each level is different. The Vernax change in speed and in quantity. In the first level, there is only one Vernax moving very slowly so trapping it should be a piece of cake. Each of the first 4 levels adds one more Vernax needing to be trapped.

Level Four

On the fifth level, things get a little trickier. Instead of continuing on numerically, you're in for a little surprise. There are only four Vernax.

Now, don't get too worked up. This makes it easier to get to level six where there will be 6 of the little guys waiting for you. Joining the 6 Vernax is a friend.

Enemies

With the advancement from levels 1-5, you will notice that either there are more Verneax or that they are moving faster. At level six, you will meet the newest enemy. It comes in the form of red mutant Spyders who are busy little guys. You may think that they are harmless, but don't let them fool you. These devils are working AGAINST you. While your are spinning webs trying to trap the Vernax, the mutant spyders are destroying the webs that you construct by moving to them and eating away the lines that boxed the Vernax in. The only positive thing about this is that the ones that you have already captured can not be released. But if you are in the process of making a space smaller and have not trapped any in, the mutant spyders and take away parts of the web you are trying to spin.

In level six there is only one red mutant spyder for you to deal with, but in level seven there are two.

Level Seven

By time you get to level eight, you'll be rid of the Red Mutant Spyder... but not for good. They will appear in the last two levels of a seven level set. So be prepared!

When you get to the higher levels (levels 22 through 28), some of the Vernax are able to travel through the walls of certain webs. Even though you close the box the Vernax are still able to slip through. Sad right? Well, don't let this get you down. Continue to make different traps. If one of those Vernax manage to travel through the strand like a ghost it might still be useful. You have to be quick when you use this strategy because, at this point, the Vernax are moving really fast. Let's say that the empty box is in the lower left corner of the square. When the Vernax enters the box, you should already be prepared for its arrival. You will have to reconnect the upper right corner of the box before it escapes. If you are successful, it will be captured.

Tips To Win

  • Take your time, don't rush.
  • Try catching the spyder bites, but know that they aren't that important.
  • Divide and conquer. Separate the fast moving Vernax from those who move slower.
  • Concentrate

You need a score of 6,690 to get a trophy.
