Another vile plot has been concocted by the evil Hubrid Nox.
Evil ghost Neopets that rise from the dead - they will make me an invincible army!!!!
Soon the whole of Neopia will be my slaves!!
A little too cliché? Not for Hubrid, that's the way he likes it...
but this time he has met his match...

In this game you control MAGAX: Destroyer, a protector of good with a dark background. He has sworn to get revenge on Hubrid, and let's hope he succeeds. Use the arrow keys to move MAGAX around the night sky, and hit the Space Bar to fire his energy bolt. Destroy those ghosts before they destroy you!

The third opponent

You play as Magax, flying through a graveyard filled with ghosts. Use your laser (spacebar) to shoot them down. However, you must always keep your powerbar (located upper left on your game screen) from completely disappearing or else you die on the spot. The powerbar diminishes as you shoot lasers, and refills when you're not shooting.

Get to know the area at the top of your gamescreen well:
Power Meter: If your power runs out, you may get hurt because you can’t shoot your laser. Power refills by itself when you are not using the laser.
Health Meter: If you run out of health, you are dead, game over.
Radar Grid: The white dot in the center will always be you. The red dots are ghosts. Hubrid Nox and the Health Orbs do not show up on the radar grid.

You can find 2 Health Orbs per level that replenish your health by 5 points each:

Hubrid Nox appears randomly and casts one of the following three spells. You can't hurt him or get rid of him in any way or block the spells he casts.

FireSpell: This lasts about 5 seconds, engulfing magax in flames and slowly lowers your health meter until the fire is gone. You can’t avoid it and it will take about half as much damage as a ghost would. If your health meter is low, this spell will kill you.

Ice Spell: Ice freezes Magax for about 6 seconds. When the Ice Spell is cast on Magax, you cannot move up, down, left, or right, and you cannot fire your lasers. You can run into the ghosts and get hurt and you can run into Health Orbs and get cured. You can’t avoid it, but you can lower chances of getting damaged if you clear the game one section at a time and leave no ghosts behind.

Growth Spell: This makes all your enemies larger. This can be a mixed blessing: Bigger enemies are easier to run into but also easier to hit. Hubrid Nox casts the Growth spell repeatedly and they do stack with each other. There are times where the triplet of tiny Jubjubs can become bigger than the enlarged normal Jubjub.

Tips to Win

    1. Select the window size that matches what your monitor is set to. (1024x768 is the most common)
    2. Select low for game quality
    3. Be patient, relax, this game does not run on a timer.
    4. Wait until you see the red spots on the radar grid move before you start shooting. This will avoid certain bugs found in the game. The higher the level, the longer the game takes to load. Patience.
    5. Watch your radar grid closely for groups of ghosts and move Magax up or down to avoid running into them until you know who is in the group.
    6. Turning around slows down Magax - If you speed past an enemy and want to go back for a slower, clearer shot, flip around a few times by hitting the left and right keys to slow yourself down for a bit.
    7. Shoot the Chias first when meeting more than one type of ghost.
    8. Don’t shoot a ghost that’s near a Health Orb, your shot will destroy the orb along with the ghost.
    9. If your Health meter is full, don’t collect the health orbs until there are only 2 ghosts left on the level. Collect your health orbs at the end, just in case you get hurt and need them.
    10. Typing hubridnox at any point during the game will restore your Health meter to full.
A score of 3000 or above is needed to get the avatar.
A score of 3500 and above is generally the average to gain the trophy.
