Kelby, a Maraquan Shoyru, and his JubJub friends are going on a hunt for sunken ships and long-lost pirate treasure.
The JubJubs can't swim as deep as Kelby can, though, so now they're freefalling!
Look out below! Help Kelby cushion the JubJubs' fall before they splat onto the ocean floor.

In Jubble Bubble, you play as Kelby, a Maraquan Shoyru, who has to help his friends, the Jubjubs, reach the floor of the ocean. When standing directly below the falling item, press and hold the mouse or spacebar, creating a bubble to cushion the landing. Let the bubble rise to the level of the item you are trying to protect and release the button to capture it.
Kelby has three lives, and he loses a life every time one of his Jubjub friends hit the ocean floor without a bubble around him to cushion his fall.
If Kelby does not stand directly beneath the Jubjub, the bubble will not trap the him. If that’s the case, the bubble will keep traveling upwards until it reaches the height you specified, and then fall to the ground and pop, not making you lose points or a life. Similarly, if you launch a bubble higher than where the Jubjub is, it will rise and fall again, but it won’t catch the Jubjub on the way up or on the way back down.
If a bubble is released and you realize that Kelby isn't directly underneath the Jubjub, don’t panic. Kelby can swim while launching a bubble, which is convenient when trying to reach Jubjubs that are falling on the other side of the screen. Start releasing the bubble in the middle of the screen and by the time he reaches the Jubjub, it is ready to be launched.
Three different items freefall through the water towards Kelby.
Jubjubs
Every time a Jubjub touches ocean floor with it's bubble cushion Kelby scores +10 points. If, however, the Jubjub touches ground without its cushion, then Kelby loses a life.

Shells
Every now and then a shell will fall from the surface. If the shell lands on the ground with a cushion, then Kelby scores +5 points. If not, then the shell disappears. When this happens Kelby doesn’t lose a life, however he will be stunned and unable to move for a few seconds.
Dubloons
Once every one hundred points or so, a dubloon falls from the surface. If Kelby manages to supply the dubloon with a bubble cushion before it hits the ground, Kelby receives +25 points. If not, the doubloon falls to the ground, disappears, and there is no life lost.
Once Kelby starts scoring higher, the Jubjubs will start falling from the surface more rapidly. Be cautious, always go towards the Jubjub who started falling first. If Kelby has no chance of saving him, move on to the next one immediately.
If a shell starts falling, and a Jubjub appears right after, play it safe and go for the Jubjub, especially if it's on the other side of the screen. It's better to let the shell disappear than to lose a life by letting the Jubjub fall. If the Jubjub and shell are very close to each other, take no chances and go for the Jubjub, capturing the shell afterwards if there is still time.
More than anything, this games requires a great deal of practice. Over time, you will get the hang of it and eventually you will know exactly when to launch the bubble towards the Jubjub or item.
There is no avatar for this fun game, but a spiffy trophy can be won if you score more than 7,100 NP.
