Deep in the jungles of Mystery Island emerges a one-of-a-kind game that celebrates the Mystery Island fruit known as Gadsgadsbogen. The game itself is appropriately named Gadgadsgame. Gadgadsgame is a medium leveled puzzle game where the player drops fruits onto the screen and earns points every time a fruit or group of fruits is cleared. There are 5 fruits featured in the game overall.
The first fruit, of an orange nature, is called a Stramwart. The second type of fruit, which is blue, is called a Blobbule. The third, a purple fruit with green spots, is called a Plumberry. The forth, a blue fruit with an orange fuzz, is known as a Griush Melon, and the last one, of a yellow complexion, is called a Lemwart. One thing a player of this game wants to do is place the fruit together in clusters, with the same colors beside each other. This helps the player gain more points when destroying fruit. Fruit that are next to each other will merge to form a bigger form of that same fruit. The bigger the form when destroyed, the more points awarded. This is an example of a 2x2 Blobbule. As can be seen in the picture, the fruit is two units up, and two units across, and the 4 Blobbule that were there before have merged to form one bigger version of themselves. ![]() The following is the point scale that is featured in this game: 1x1 = 1
2x2 = 8 3x3 = 27 4x4 = 64 5x5 = 125 6x6 = 216 7x7 = 343 8x8 = 512 9x9 = 729 There are two ways to destroy the fruits to earn points in this game. The first way is to use the bombs to destroy them. Each bomb will destroy the fruit that shares the same image and twirling background color as they display. However, the bomb will NOT destroy every last fruit of that color that is on the board. It will destroy every fruit of that color that it touches. This means that if the bomb does not touch any fruit of its color, it will only destroy itself. With this in mind, we can safely assume that the following bombs will destroy the according fruit:
This first item that can be used to destroy fruit, looks like a green shell with a fuse on the end. It will eliminate every color of the fruit it lands on that is on the board. For example, if the bomb landed on a Blobbule, it would destroy every last Blobbule found on the board. This item will change all the fruit on the board of the color that it lands on to a random color of fruit. For example, if the potion landed on a Lemwart, it would change all the Lemwarts on the board to a fruit of another color.
GAME PLAY
Gadgadsgame, like any other game, is designed with levels; each progressively harder as game time goes on. The one thing that causes Gadgadsgame to differ from other games is that you cannot unlock levels by doing certain things in the game. Players seem to gain levels after they have played for a certain amount of time. There is also a timer-like item in the game (see the image below) that is located underneath the player's current level and score. When this fills up, the player's game board is showered with random fruit. There is nothing one can do to change where the fruit lands, or what kind of fruit lands where. It all relies on luck.
Different things also happen at different levels of play in Gadgadsgame.
The one thing that is most apparent is speed. As the levels progress to make the game harder, the fruit start to drop at a faster speed than they did during the previous level. The second thing that happens as the levels progress is something that may not be apparent to the everyday user. As the levels progress during Gadgadsgame, different fruit are added to the board. At the beginning of the game, the player has 3 fruit to try and place and remove from the board. They are the Stramwart, the Plumberry, and the Blobbule. When the player reaches level 4 they are introduced to the Gruish Melon, and finally the Lemwart at level 7. HANDY TIPS
Any avid player of Gadgadsgame will tell you the 3 same things:
2. Bombs should always be used on the biggest clusters in order for the player to gain as many points as possible. For example, the bomb that destroys all the pieces of the color it lands on should be used on the color that can be seen the most on the game board. This allows the player to clear most of their board, giving them room for other pieces AND a reasonable amount of points. 3. The potion that changes the color of the pieces on the board should be used on the biggest cluster on the game board. This gives the player a chance to have that cluster change and connect with a surrounding cluster, giving them even more points when they come across with a bomb that could be used to clear it. This is possibly one of the most important tips/rules of the game.
Under no circumstances should a player cover the fruit clusters on the bottom of their board. If a cluster of fruit must be covered because there is nowhere else to place the dropping fruit, make sure that there is at least one open space that can be used to gain access to the covered cluster. This way if a bomb drops that can be used to clear said cluster, there is one open space that can be used to gain points that would be otherwise lost by no touching pieces.
There is one last special thing about Gadgadsgame. It has an avatar to go with it! This avatar is obtainable by gaining a score of 1000+ points and sending score. Hopefully with the hints picked up in this tutorial, adding this avatar to your collection shouldn't be too difficult a feat to accomplish.
