In the game you control Gilly, a poor Usul who was lost in the woods and accidentally stumbled into the Castle of Eliv Thade seeking shelter.
As you enter, the heavy iron door slams shut, and locks behind you. Uh oh.

Gilly needs to escape from the castle. To do so, she must collect items from four rooms; the Dining Room, Kitchen, Library, and Bedroom. After collecting every item take Gilly to The Crypt so the spectre of Eliv Thade can finally rest in peace.

Before the game begins it's necessary to choose the degree of difficulty. There are two different difficulty levels which are Scaredy Cat - Easy, and Super Brave - Hard.  In easy mode,  the anagrams are shorter and easier to solve, but solving them will earn fewer points. In hard mode, the anagrams are longer and more difficult to solve, but more points are awarded for solving them.

Move Gilly using the left mouse key to click on the square you wish for her to go to. Gilly can only move 1, 2, or 3 spaces in any direction following a path. When she stops moving, an anagram will be shown. Solve the anagram and type in the answer using the keyboard.

The Game Screen

  1. Gilly the Usul is the unfortunate soul who is locked inside of the castle. She is the character that you will control during the game.
  2. This little ghost is not just for decoration. If his mouth is open, then the music is on. If his mouth is closed, then the music is off. Click on him to open and close his mouth.
  3. These are your lives. Everytime an anagram is answered incorrectly or Gilly falls through a hole, a life is lost. When all three lives are lost, it is a game over.
  4. This is where your score is located. Each time an anagram is answered correctly, points are added. The amount earned depends on the difficulty level and how many spaces you went.
  5. The Dining Room is where The Sword of Skardsen is found. It is always the first item Gilly receive.
  6. In the Kitchen the Shield of Pion Troect is found.
  7. This is the Library which is where the The Grimoire of Thade is found.
  8. The Bedroom which is where the Amulet of Thilg is found.
  9. This is the Crypt where Eliv Thade is located. It cannot be entered until all four items are acquired.
  10. The items are shown in this area. When am item is found, the picture of the item will be added in one of the four boxes. Remember, the Crypt cannot be entered until all four of these boxes have an item inside.
The Crypt is the last room to be entered. Once it is entered, Gilly can never go back out and explore the halls or other rooms. In easy mode you must solve an anagram of 7 letters to enter, but in hard mode you must solve an anagram of 8 letters. Entering this room ends the game, and solving the final anagram gives you quite a few extra points.

The hallway floors have two different types of tiles. When Gilly lands on a tile with cracks there is an 50 percent chance she will fall through the floor. If Gilly falls through the floor, a life is lost and she must enter through the main doorway again. Gilly can safely pass over the cracked tiles to land on a tile on the other side.

Uncracked floor tiles are completely safe for Gilly to land on. An anagram must be solved after each move. You can not move ahead until you answer one correctly. If you answer incorrectly three times the game ends.

There are four secret floor tiles that may be used to move about more easily. Simply point and click to use them.

In this game, you must put Eliv Thade's spirit to rest. In order to do so, the Sword of Skardsen, the Shield of Pion Troect, the Grimoire of Thade, and the Amulet of Thilg must be collected from the four rooms.

Image Name Description Location
Sword of Skardsen Just the trick to put a pesky menacing undead monster out of its misery! The Dining Room
Shield of Pion Troect This shield will grant you extreme pion troect in times of need! Kitchen
Grimoire of Thade You can almost feel the thade emanating from this ancient tome... Library
Amulet of Thilg One of the items used to banish the malevolent spectre, Eliv Thade! Bedroom

In order for Gilly to move, an anagram must be solved. An anagram is a bunch of letters scrambled up that when correctly put together makes a real word. If the anagram is correctly solved, Gilly moves to the square that was clicked on, and points are added to your score. If it's guessed incorrectly, Gilly will stay where she was, and one of the lives will be lost.

  1. This is where the anagram is listed. Rearrange the letters in the anagram to figure out what the word is.
  2. This is where Eliv Thade will taunt you. What he says here does not affect the anagram or the game, but the text is not always the same. What he says is random, but the same taunts will be seen multiple times. The four taunts that he uses are:
    • Here is an anagram for you, pathetic mortal!
    • I bet you can't work this one out!
    • Unscramble this word, or face my wrath!
    • You will not leave this house alive!
  3. This text box is where the answer should be typed. Unscramble the anagram and type in your answer.
  4. Click this button after typing your complete answer in the space provided. Clicking it will do nothing if the text box is empty, but don't click too soon! It could cause a life to be lost.
  5. This is the hint button. Using a hint will tell what the first letter in the word is. If it is used multiple times on the same anagram it will tell what the second, third, etc. letters are.
  6. This is the head of Eliv Thade's spectre. It serves no purpose and is just a decoration. It will hover around when you are trying to solve an anagram. Answering correctly will cause the head to spin and slowly get smaller and smaller until it vanishes completely. Answering incorrectly will make it get bigger, move to the middle of the screen, and then hover away.

Scoring

The amount of points received when an anagram is correctly answered depends on the game difficulty chosen and the amount of letters in the anagram.

    Easy Mode

        4 Letter Anagram - 1 Space - 1 Point
        5 Letter Anagram - 2 Spaces - 3 Points
        6 Letter Anagram - 3 Spaces - 6 Points

    Hard Mode

        5 Letter Anagram - 1 Space - 2 Points
        6 Letter Anagram - 2 Spaces - 5 Points
        7 Letter Anagram - 3 Spaces - 10 Points

If you’re unable to determine what the anagram is, you can use one of your hints. You start with three and another one each time you get an item from one of the rooms. When a hint is used the first letter of the word is shown. If another hint is used on the same word then the next letter will appear.

The most difficult part of this game is solving the anagrams. Luckily there are anagram solvers online to help you! Some good anagram solvers are:

Remember that there are a lot of words in the English dictionary, so when using these anagram solvers there may be more than one possible result that comes up. Always try the most commonly known result first. If after guessing it says that the anagram is wrong, try the next result. If no other results are shown on the anagram solver try a different website, because it may have different words. If that still does not work the anagram may be a proper noun or a Neopets word. In that case, simply try to figure it out on your own or use the Neopet's word anagram solver created by Avatarlog.

When all of the required items have been attained, take Gilly to the Crypt. At the Crypt you will be faced with a final anagram which tends to be more difficult than the others. If playing on easy mode, this anagram will be seven letters long. If playing on hard mode, the anagram will have eight letters.

Tips, Cheats, Tricks:

  • Each time an item is acquired, an extra hint is given. The game begins with three hints, so there is a maximum of seven (or eight if the cheat is used). Hints are helpful for those Neopian words that anagram solvers don't know.
  • Do not click on Gilly, the character, because then an anagram will be given to you. If the anagram is correctly guessed Gilly will still not be allowed to move and no points will be given. However, if the anagram is incorrectly guessed a life is still lost. Some of these anagrams are unsolvable so a life may be lost for getting an impossible one incorrect.
  • Type rehaxtint to receive one extra hint.
  • Avoid cracks. There is a 50% chance of falling through when landing on one. Falling through the hole will result in losing a life.
  • The large (1024x768) window size is preferred, but any size other than small (640x480) will work.
  • Remember, not all anagrams are real words. Some anagrams are proper nouns, and others are Neopian words (like Fyora, Meridell, and Neopia). If an anagram solver is used make sure that you keep this in mind.
  • When trying to get the score needed for the avatar  you must go back and forth on the same spaces repeatedly. Do not go to the crypt right after collecting all of the items, win the game, and then expect to get a score high enough for the avatar. It's not going to happen. Move Gilly around the board while guessing the anagrams correctly to gain points. Once your score is near 1,300 points go to the Crypt. Keep in mind that some points are also added for finishing the game.
  • Playing on hard mode makes getting the avatar easier because it awards more points for correctly guessing anagrams.

The avatar for this game can be acquired by scoring 1,300 points or higher. A score of 2,700+ will usually get you a trophy.
