The Twelve GuardiansThere are twelve guardians in Altador each protecting their own respective areas of the land. Here is an in-depth list of the twelve guardians, their constellations, and their powers or prowesses. ![]() ![]() ![]() 1. Jerdana is one of the main protectors of Altador. She helped Fyora imprison the Darkest Faerie in her stone statue at the bottom of Maraqua in the first place with Jerdana's Orb. She was one of the rulers of Altador. "Was" that is, before the Darkest Faerie arrived. The Jerdana card, found in the starter set, shows Jerdana at the peak of her health. She is physically able compared to her imprisoned counterpart, but less able in magic and intelligence. A city in peril... heroes in danger... growing darkness... Her memories were fading fast. The flavour text on Jerdana, Imprisoned would explain that she is left helpless while our heroes, Tor and Roberta, are in danger and need help from an outside source. Jerdana is The Protector: Dark paths our heroes must traverse, to help Jerdana lift the curse. Meaning Jerdana is essential towards lifting the curse the Darkest Faerie has set upon Neopia. ![]() ![]() 2. King Altador is the bringer of good game and fortune. He is also the public guardian and makes sure everything is always in order. He is one of the main guardians of Altador and also has a few wise words to supply. Take my advice Tor: never EVER trust a dark faerie. That would suggest that he put his trust in a certain Dark(est) Faerie and was taken advantage of. King Altador is also The Hunter: He draws his bow with all his might; an arrow flies across the night. The first part further emphasizes the fact the he's a hunter. The second part might suggest that he has to go undercover during the night, or an overnight chase. ![]() ![]() 3. The first of two faerie guardians, Siyana of Talador (card from first edition) is the guardian of Altador's light. This would suggest that she had to flee Altador for fear of her own light being extinguished. Siyana is also She came from the land of Talador, where the light had turned into eternal darkness. The First to Rise: Awakening early is very wise, for Siyana smiles on the first to rise. The couplet on this card seems un-important, but if you look in the background of the card, you will see Gebmids. That would suggest that Siyana is hiding in the desert. ![]() ![]() 4. Psellia (card from the Battle for Meridell expansion) is the second faerie guardian of Altador. She was seen before when she came to Jeran's aid during the Kass war, so might be in hiding in Meridell. She flies through the air, keeping it clean and safe, making sure that no smoke or destruction comes in. Psellia is The Dreamer: Psellia fair maiden of the air, help me avoid bad morning hair. This couplet is more comic relief than informative, however the first part says that she indeed is the guardian of the air.
![]() ![]() 5. Florin is a new character, presumably the youngest guardian. Guardian of the forests and farmlands, and one of the twelve protectors of Altador. This tells us that there are indeed twelve guardians, and this one guards the forests and farmlands making sure that there is always a good crop. As could be guessed, Florin is The Farmer. Planting his harvests in fields of skies, the farmer tills with expert eyes. This means that he pays alot of attention to detail, and may be in hiding with Psellia since he's planting harvests in fields of skies. This might possibly suggest that he cannot, or will not, be able to plant his fields in the ground.

![]() ![]() 6. Fauna is the guardian of pets and petpets in Altador. A gentler soul never existed. She wouldn't hurt a Mootix if it walked up and bit her; rather, she'd feed it and set it free. The Fauna, aka The Gatherer (card from Wizards of the Coast) card is in a smaller print. I can only guess at the flavour text that would go something like this: The Gatherer just picks her fruit, the gentle stars do follow suit. I believe she is an Altadorian alternative to the Soup Faerie.
![]() ![]() 7. Treasurer Gordos is Altador's equivalent to the Tax Beast. He knows exactly how many coins there are. He just enjoys counting them. Therefore implying, characters like the Tax Beast, and The Evil Kadoatie are not welcome there. As The Collector: Gordos weighs all coins with his scales collecting the taxes on all the day's sales. Treasurer Gordos is a tax collector, but he's fair. He is the guardian of all the financial aspects of Altador.
![]() ![]() 8. Marak is the guardian of the oceans and lakes. Although his name isn't on the Peophin Waverider card, the resemblence between the Peophins on the cards is uncanny. Elite defenders of Mystery Island, the Peophin Waveriders are rarely seen near the shore. Marak is Altador's elite defender. Marak is The Wave. Marak, lord of the ocean swells, guides our boats from where he now dwells. It appears that Marak has set up shop in the newly re-discovered Maraqua in hiding of the Darkest Faerie... or to guard her.
![]() ![]() 9. Torakar (card taken from first edition) is a rather odd choice for a guardian, considering a gladiator's job is to destroy his opponents. Maybe TNT softened it into contests. The only thing louder than his battle cry is the cheering of his fans.; inferring that he is very popular among the battle fans. He is the guardian of all battles and armies, in protection for Altador. Torakar is also The Gladiator: With shield at the ready and sword held high, bravery and honour illuminate the sky. The background of this card would suggest he decided to hide in Tyrannia.
![]() 10. Kelland is another strange choice for guardian considering he is The Thief. Stealthy, creeping, shadowlike. Kelland waits for his chance to strike. There is the possibility that the Darkest Faerie will drive a wedge between the guardians and pit them against each other. Either that, or she will woo guardians like Kelland and Torakar toward her side and they will have to re-discover the bravery, honour and fierce loyalty it takes to be a guardian.
![]() 11. Sasha, The Dancer is the guardian of happy times and celebrations. You can be sure that once the Darkest Faerie is defeated, Sasha will be the first to recuperate and start a celebration. These stars form a circle and shine like ths sun, the celebrations have just begun.
![]() ![]() ![]() 12. Indeed, if you haven't figured it out yet, The Darkest Faerie (card taken from first edition) is the twelfth guardian of Altador. Fyora stole a thousand years form me, and that was about what it took for me to plan my revenge. This would suggest that she doesn't simply want to get rid of Fyora, she wants to force Fyora into watching her kingdom fall, one land at a time. The Darkest Faerie; I have returned.: shows the Darkest Faerie at the height of her powers, ready to take over Neopia. As a guardian of Altador, she also lays claim to a constellation, The Sleeper. Asleep no more and free from her tomb, Neopia now faces certain doom. It is my guess that on the nights that her constellation appears, she has more power than the other nights, and managed to convince an unsuspecting Zafara into freeing her.
